The Zambia Medicines and Medical Supplies Agency (ZAMMSA) says it has received the first consignment of renal consumables under the K132 million bulk procurement aimed at stabilising dialysis treatment services across the country.
Senior Corporate Communications Officer, Enoch Lusoke, confirmed the development in a statement issued in Lusaka on Wednesday, saying the delivery marks a critical step toward easing shortages that have recently affected kidney patients.
He said the consignment included essential dialysis items such as dialyzers, bi-bags, erythropoietin, AV-lines, blood tubings and dressings, with more supplies expected to arrive before the end of this week.

“Agency has since commenced the distribution of the renal consumables to designated treatment centers to ensure continuity of dialysis services and minimize disruptions in patient care,” Lusoke stated.
He added that the full shipment, once completely delivered, was expected to sustain dialysis services for more than three months.
Lusoke further reassured renal patients and the general public of agency’s continued commitment to maintaining consistent supply chains for essential medical commodities in support of quality healthcare delivery.
