Nkana Football Club has placed Head Coach Mwenya Chipepo and first Assistant Coach Christopher Katongo on administrative leave with full pay and benefits, the club said on Monday, citing the need to address internal matters amid a poor run of results.

Club media officer, Mike Mubanga, said the measure was procedural and intended to allow ongoing internal processes to proceed without disruption.

In the interim, former Zambia international Elijah Tana has been appointed Head Coach.

He will be supported by Josephat Nkhoma as first Assistant Coach and Donashano Malama as second Assistant Coach, Mubanga said.

Michael Poto will continue in his current role as goalkeeping coach.

The restructuring also affects the club’s developmental and women’s sides.

Young Nkana Head Coach Simon Bwalya has been assigned additional duties as senior team physical trainer, while Kelvin Chabala will take charge of Young Nkana.

Laston Kangwa remains Head Coach of Nkana Girls, assisted by Esther Mulenga.

Chief Executive Officer, Mwansa Kapyanga, said the changes were necessary to keep the team competitive and assured the technical bench of management’s full support.

He said the club would issue further updates in due course.
