Police arrest Mazabuka teacher for alleged defilement of a 15-year-old girl

Police in Mazabuka District of Southern Province have arrested a named teacher at a local secondary school, residing in Kabobola Coumpound for allegedly defiling a 15-year-old girl.

The defilement incident was reported to have occurred on an unknown date between April 2025 and July 21, 2025, around 15:00 hours, at Kabobola Compound, Mazabuka.

Moono Namalongo, Southern Province Deputy Commanding Officer confirmed the arrest of the teacher in a statement issued in Mazabuka on Wednesday.

Namalongo said on July 21, 2025, Mazabuka Police Station received a report of defilement from a 20-year-old male resident of Kabobola Compound, Mazabuka.

“He reported on behalf of a 15-year-old female juvenile of Hillside Compound that she had been sexually abused by a male teacher at a local secondary school, also residing in Kabobola Compound,” he said.

Police brief facts of the matter were that the reporter had observed the victim visiting the suspect’s residence on several occasions and on July 21, 2025, around 14:00 hours, he saw her enter the suspect’s house and informed his friends.

Namalongo stated that a few minutes later, the reporter approached the house, requested both individuals to come outside, and escorted them to the police for interviews.

During police interview, the victim disclosed that she had entered into a relationship with the suspect and engaged in sexual intercourse once at his residence.

“She stated that on the day in question, she had gone there to receive tuition,” Namalongo said.

He stated that the suspect was arrested and was currently detained in lawful custody and would appear in court soon.
