Prince Moulay Rachid received on Monday 19 January 2025 members of the Moroccan national football team at the Royal Guests Palace in Rabat, after their play at the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025 final.
During the reception, Prince Moulay Rachid was welcomed by Fouzi Lekjaa, President of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), coach Walid Regragui, and the national team players, before posing for a commemorative photo.
The event reflects the High Benevolence with which His Majesty the King of Morocco has continually surrounded the youth and supported their development through sports, and the particular interest the Sovereign attaches to this sector in general, and to football in particular.
Following the conclusion of the final match against Senegal, the King of Morocco, Mohammed VI sent a message of congratulations to the national team. In His message, the Sovereign commended the team’s journey in AFCON 2025.
The King said that the Atlas Lions “demonstrated that perseverance, commitment, and teamwork are the path to achieving excellence” and “offered the world a glimpse of what Moroccan and African youth can accomplish when they trust in their talents and abilities.”
The King also noted that the team’s “determination and heroic, honorable performance reflect the importance of our strategic vision to invest in human capital and modernize the Kingdom’s infrastructures, which proved their resilience and world-class readiness in preparation for hosting the 2030 World Cup.”
