Patriotic Front faction president Miles Sampa has petitioned the Kabwe High Court to substitute him for Morgan Ng’ona in a case involving the Patriotic Front, insisting that Ng’ona no longer had the legal standing to pursue the matter as Secretary General.
Through an ex-parte summons, Sampa asked the court to alter the parties to the proceedings, arguing that Ng’ona’s continued participation in the case in that capacity was legally untenable.
In his supporting affidavit, Sampa stated that Ng’ona had initiated the proceedings claiming to be both a member and Secretary General of the Patriotic Front.
However, he explained that Ng’ona’s claim to the office had been contested in earlier proceedings before the High Court at the Principal Registry under Cause No. 2024/HP/0938.

According to Sampa, Ng’ona had in that matter sought court orders relating to his removal as Secretary General and his alleged expulsion from the party.
Sampa said the High Court delivered its ruling on March 3, 2026, dismissing the proceedings.
He told the court that the ruling effectively extinguished Ng’ona’s legal claim to the office of Secretary General.
“By reason of the dismissal of the said proceedings, the plaintiff’s claim to the office of Secretary General ceased to have any legal basis,” Sampa stated.
He argued that the party had already notified the Registrar of Societies about Ng’ona’s removal through a letter served on March 13, 2026.
Sampa further contended that Ng’ona’s continued participation in the case amounted to an abuse of court process as he no longer possessed the legal capacity in which he had initiated the action.
He told the court that it was necessary for the lawful office holder to be before the court to ensure the proper determination of the matter.
Sampa asserted that he was the rightful Secretary General of the PF and therefore the appropriate party to replace Ng’ona in the proceedings.
In January 2026, Judge Kelvin Limbani upheld an earlier order restraining Lundazi Member of Parliament Brenda Nyirenda from holding herself out as PF acting Secretary General or convening an elective convention.
The court further barred Nyirenda, who is aligned to the Lubinda-led faction, and her agents from occupying the PF secretariat, using party materials, or convening party meetings.
