South Africa defeated Zambia 3–1 in an international friendly on Saturday after delivering a commanding performance in Johannesburg.
Oswin Appollis opened the scoring in the 43rd minute with a left-footed strike from the centre of the box, sending the hosts into halftime leading 1–0.
Bafana Bafana extended their advantage after the break, with Mohau Nkota firing in a powerful left-footed shot from distance in the 63rd minute, assisted by Sipho Mbule.
Three minutes later, Yaya Sithole made it 3–0 with a well-timed header from a corner.
Zambia grabbed a consolation goal deep into stoppage time when Joseph Sabobo finished off a counterattack with a right-footed strike in the 90th minute plus three.
The match featured several stoppages due to injuries to Toaster Nsabata and Nkosinathi Sibisi, alongside frequent fouls that disrupted the rhythm.
Despite Zambia’s improved second-half push—with attempts from Fashion Sakala and Patson Daka—they struggled to convert their chances.
South Africa maintained greater possession throughout and looked more likely to extend their lead, while Zambia’s late pressure came too late to alter the result.
