Standard Chartered Bank Zambia has launched the sixth cohort of its Women in Tech (WiT) programme, an initiative aimed at accelerating women-led start-ups that are leveraging technology to drive innovation and growth.

The programme, delivered in partnership with Village Capital and BongoHive, brings, together global expertise and local ecosystem support to help Zambian female entrepreneurs build scalable and investment-ready businesses.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the bank’s Chief Executive Officer, Sonny Zulu, said the initiative formed part of the organization’s broader commitment to empowering women entrepreneurs.

“Through Women in Tech, we are not only providing funding but also creating access to networks, skills and opportunities that entrepreneurs need to scale sustainable businesses and contribute to Zambia’s economic growth,” he said.

Muyangana noted that the collaboration between local partners and global organisations was helping entrepreneurs access critical tools, mentorship and networks needed to build impactful businesses.

Village Capital Senior Programme Manager, Yazmin Jumaali, also highlighted the importance of strong support systems for women entrepreneurs, noting that access to the right resources helps founders build resilient and sustainable ventures.

“We are excited to continue working with partners in Zambia to unlock this potential,” Jumaali said.
