Chris Wood struck twice as Nottingham Forest defeated Brentford 3-1, handing Keith Andrews a gruelling introduction to Premier League management.

Andrews, who replaced Thomas Frank following his move to Tottenham, endured a nightmare first half as his side collapsed defensively.

In a match reported by Sky Sports, Wood opened the scoring from a corner before Dan Ndoye marked his debut with a goal.

Wood then added his second, set up by Morgan Gibbs-White, to leave the visitors reeling before the break.

Forest, playing in Europe this season for the first time since 1996, looked sharper in every department. New signings Omari Hutchinson and James McAtee were unveiled before kick-off, boosting Nuno Espirito Santo’s squad depth.

Gibbs-White impressed throughout, nearly earning a penalty before Brentford were awarded one at the other end.

Igor Thiago converted from the spot to give Andrews brief respite, but it proved only a consolation as Forest closed out a convincing victory.

With star forward Yoane Wissa absent, Brentford looked short of cutting edge, leaving Andrews facing a significant task to get his team up to Premier League standard.
