The government has reaffirmed Zambia’s strong commitment to building resilience in water and sanitation through robust partnerships, Minister of Water Development and Sanitation Collins Nzovu has said.

Nzovu also assured of Zambia’s readiness to strengthen cooperation with the Kingdom of Morocco following a bilateral meeting with his Moroccan counterpart, Nizar Baraka, Minister of Water and Equipment, on the sidelines of the African Ministers’ Council on Water (AMCOW) General Assembly.

He expressed confidence that the Zambia–Morocco collaboration would yield significant benefits for both nations.

“Zambia has already developed a draft Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Morocco, which has been submitted through diplomatic channels,” Nzovu announced.

He added that Zambia looked forward to Morocco’s feedback in order to formalize a cooperation framework.
Nzovu thanked Baraka for his consistent support, recalling Morocco’s participation in the PANAFCON Water Conference held earlier this year in Lusaka, which laid a firm foundation for deeper collaboration.

“It is regrettable that unforeseen circumstances prevented Zambia’s technical delegation from undertaking a planned working visit to Rabat in September,” he said, but assured that Zambia remained fully committed to advancing technical cooperation and knowledge exchange with Morocco.

He further expressed gratitude for Morocco’s invitation to the 19th Water Congress scheduled for 5th December 2025, confirming his participation and Zambia’s readiness to contribute to global discussions on sustainable water management.

Highlighting Morocco’s achievements in water harvesting, irrigation technologies, and large-scale infrastructure development, Nzovu said:

“Zambia is eager to learn from Morocco’s vast expertise while also sharing its own progress in the provision and regulation of water and sanitation services.”

In his remarks, Baraka emphasized the importance of strengthening collaboration among African countries to advance technical cooperation and promote knowledge exchange.
