Zambian companies have reportedly secured trade deals worth over US$ 47 million during a recent trade mission to the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), says the Zambia Development Agency (ZDA).

According to preliminary data from 37 participating companies, the deals amounted to US$ 47,499,945, including US$ 18,886 from spot sales, US$ 38,576,918 from confirmed orders, and US$ 8,904,141 in potential leads.

In a statement issued in Lusaka on Sunday, ZDA Head of Communications and Public Relations, Kwali Mfuni, said the trade mission focused on multiple sectors, including food and agro-products such as rice, cassava flour, dry fish, kapenta, soy porridge, and peanut butter.

She stated that other areas included fresh produce, leather goods, and professional services like landscaping, cleaning, recruitment, and agricultural consultancy.

Mfuni explained that nine Zambian companies signed Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with Congolese counterparts, including Uwezo Market, Gosen, Emerald Consulting, NDN Pro King Fresh Ltd, Sanza’s SARL, Aide Les Prochains, and Codex SARL.

She said that participating Zambian companies included Unique Kal Enterprises, Sumwa General Supplies and Construction Limited, Lenchika Enterprises, Eunimos Investment Limited, Sereno Farms, Vine Cornerstone General Dealers, Densa Agriplus Limited, Dimitru Zambia, and Kasmel Traverse (Leather).

ZDA Director-General, Albert Halwampa, said the trade mission demonstrated growing confidence in Zambian products and services in regional markets.

“We are excited to see Zambian businesses take bold steps into new markets and build sustainable commercial relationships,” he said.

The agency described the mission as a milestone in promoting Zambia’s non-traditional exports and supporting local enterprises in accessing and thriving in regional markets.
