11-year-old defiled in Kasama, police say

A girl, aged 11, has reportedly been defiled by a 30-year-old man of Chisanga village in Kasama District.

According to Police, the incident occurred on Saturday January 20, 2024 around 01:30 hours in the said village.

Northern Province Police Commanding Officer, Lucky Munkhondya, said in a statement that on unknown date this month, mother to the girl left home for the farm in Chilongoshi village and left her in the custody of the aunty.

Munkhondya narrated in a statement on Tuesday that on Friday January 19, 2024 around 21:00 hours, the aunty went to attend a funeral in TAZRA Compound leaving the victim alone in the house.

And that around 01:30 hours on Saturday while sleeping, the girl felt someone touching her body and thought it was her mother.

But after waking up she discovered that it was two unknown male persons who had entered into the house.

It was at this point that one of them forced himself on the girl and had carnal knowledge of her.

She said the suspect was identified as Boniface Mutale who is currently in police custody waiting for court appearance.
