Minister Mwamba unveils plan to promote social protection services, reduce poverty, inequality (video)

Government has promised to meet the needs of the poor and vulnerable, including persons with disabilities, children, the aged, and the chronically ill.

This has been outlined in the Ministry of Community Development and Social Services for the 2023-2026 strategic plan.

In delivering the plan, its Minister, Doreen Mwamba, emphasized government’s commitment to promoting basic social protection services to reduce poverty, vulnerability and inequality in the country.


Speaking during the launch of the Ministry’s 2023-2026 strategic plan in Lusaka on Wednesday, Mwamba said they would enhance operational excellence to ensure efficient service delivery for the vulnerable.

She highlighted the government’s determination to harmonise service provision for targeted individuals through excellent coordination.

“The strategic plan envisions the ministry to be an innovative model of excellence for basic social protection services,” Mwamba said.

She envisioned the Ministry as an innovative model of excellence for basic social protection services in the country.

To prevent discrimination in service delivery and social development, the minister announced plans to provide basic social protection services and regulate non-governmental organizations.

Mwamba urged stakeholders to relentlessly support the government in achieving its targets.
