Lusaka Principal Magistrate, Sylvia Munyinya, has called on the police to provide an explanation for their failure to execute the warrant of arrest against fugitive Chilufya Tayali.

During proceedings, Magistrate Munyinya said it was the responsibility of the police service, not the sureties, to execute the warrant.

She requested clarification from the police regarding the oversight.

The case was scheduled to continue on June 25 for the return of the bench warrant.

In response, Tayali’s sureties, Members of Parliament, Francis Kapyanga and Lukas Mumba, assured the court that Tayali would be present at the next sitting.

They disclosed that Tayali was currently en route.

This development stems from allegations that Tayali harassed Chief Munokaliya Siloka Mukuni of the people of Kazungula district in the Southern province on his Facebook page, claiming responsibility for the 2020 gassing incidents.
