Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Mulambo Haimbe, has announced that Botswana’s President, Duma Boko, will attend the 97th Agricultural and Commercial Show, scheduled for July 30 to August 2, 2025.

Haimbe said President Boko will also undertake a state visit from August 1 to 2 at the invitation of President Hakainde Hichilema.

The announcement was made in a statement issued in Lusaka on Monday by Ministry Principal Public Relations Officer, Eva Chanda.

During the visit, Presidents Hichilema and Boko will preside over the inaugural session of the Zambia-Botswana Bi-National Commission (BNC) on August 1 at the State House.

The BNC will replace the existing Joint Permanent Commission of Cooperation (JPCC) and become the highest bilateral cooperation mechanism between the two countries.

“The session will allow the Presidents to review progress on previous agreements and adopt new programs,” Haimbe said.

He added that the meeting would culminate in the signing of several Memoranda of Understanding in various sectors, aimed at strengthening collaboration and mutual growth.

“President Boko’s visit marks a significant milestone in reinforcing the longstanding partnership between Zambia and Botswana, premised on shared values and mutual interests,” he said.

Haimbe noted that the two countries remained strategic partners with strong historical ties and shared infrastructure, such as the Kazungula Bridge, which facilitates regional trade and integration.

President Boko is expected to depart Lusaka immediately after his engagements.
