Police in Mufulira, Copperbelt Province, have launched a manhunt for suspected armed robbers who opened fire on a motor vehicle, leaving two men hospitalized.
Copperbelt Police Commanding Officer, Pathias Siandenge, confirmed the incident, describing it as a case of aggravated robbery that occurred on July 26, 2025, between 21:30 and 22:00 hours at Plot M591, Ndeke, along the Mufulira-Ndola Road.
He identified the victims as Pranavu Prapha (33) and Markmullan Lindunda (36).
“The two were driving home in a Ford vehicle, registration number ADF 899, when they were attacked by unknown criminals armed with firearms at the gate of Prapha’s residence,” Siandenge stated.
The assailants allegedly fired several shots at the vehicle, hitting Prapha on the right shoulder and Lindunda on both shoulders, the right jaw, and the stomach.
The victims, who are employees of a butchery company, sustained multiple gunshot wounds and were rushed to Ronald Ross Hospital, where Prapha is in stable condition while Lindunda remains in critical condition.

Siandenge added that the robbers made off with an undisclosed amount of company money.
“Police officers visited the scene and recovered four empty cartridges, one live round, two empty cartridges, and one live pistol round inside the vehicle, as well as shattered window glass at the gate,” he said.
Police have intensified the search for the suspects and urged anyone with information to come forward.
