Out-going Zambian Ambassador to Ethiopia, Rose Sakala, has underscored the importance of the partnership between Zambia, Ethiopia, the AU, and UNECA in advancing Zambia’s development agenda.

The out-going Permanent Representative to the African Union and UNECA also urged the Mission’s diplomatic team and officers to embrace innovation to deliver the development leverage Zambia deserves.

According to a statement issued in Addis Ababa on Tuesday, Sakala said this in a farewell message to the diplomats and locally‑engaged staff at the Zambian Embassy in that country.

Reflecting on her tenure, Sakala shared that her stay in Ethiopia offered invaluable life lessons to be carried back home in pursuit of national progress.

She encouraged her team to align with President Hakainde Hichilema’s vision through dedicated hard work, promoting Zambia globally and catalyzing investment into the country.

“I wish to extend my heartfelt gratitude to all staff for their unwavering service and want to urge them to continue upholding the Christian values Zambia represents,” Sqkala said.

Speaking on behalf of the diplomatic team, Counsellor–Economic Ikayi Mushinge expressed appreciation for Sakala’s distinguished contributions.

She highlighted significant milestones under her leadership, notably the first‑ever Zambia‑Ethiopia Business Forum, which convened over 200 prospective investors and forged toward realising many of those investment opportunities, a platform Ambassador Sakala championed.

On behalf of the locally engaged staff, Accounts Assistant Lydia Wondimu commended Sakala for creating an inclusive and motivating work environment, ensuring local staff felt valued and empowered throughout her tenure.
