Angola edge Zambia 3–2 in five-goal friendly thriller

0

Angola survived a late Zambian push to claim a narrow 3–2 victory in a lively international friendly on Tuesday, with all five goals coming from inside the box in a match defined by constant shifts in momentum.

Milson opened the scoring for Angola in the 5th minute, finishing calmly from the centre of the area. Zambia responded in the 21st minute through Jack Lahne, who levelled with a clean right-footed strike after sustained pressure.

But the hosts regained the advantage four minutes before the break when Zito Luvumbo converted from close range after good build-up play from Maestro, sending Angola into halftime with a 2–1 lead.

Zambia started the second half with renewed intensity and were rewarded almost immediately. Fashion Sakala equalised in the 48th minute, firing home from the heart of the box to bring the match to 2–2.

The decisive moment came in the 58th minute when substitute Mabululu struck the winner, guiding Ary Papel’s delivery into the centre of the goal to restore Angola’s lead at 3–2.

The final minutes saw Zambia pressing for an equaliser and the fourth official adding four minutes of stoppage time, but Angola held firm despite a flurry of substitutions and two yellow cards for Luvumbo and Fortuna.

Zambia made five second-half substitutions—including the introduction of Mangani Banda in goal—but could not break through late on, leaving Angola to celebrate a hard-fought home win.
