Zambia’s Copper Queens have been crowned champions of the Tri Nation Football Tournament after a commanding 3-1 victory over Zimbabwe’s Mighty Warriors at Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe.
In a match dominated from start to finish, the Copper Queens showcased superior quality, control and cohesion.
Striker Enelesi Phiri led the charge with an impressive brace, while Natasha Nanyangwe sealed the win with a well-taken third goal.

Zimbabwe managed a consolation through Nobukhosi Ncube, but it was not enough to threaten Zambia’s momentum.
The tournament, which kicked off last Friday, was organised by the Football Association of Malawi (FAM) as part of preparations for the upcoming Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
Zambia’s strong performance throughout the competition signalled their growing readiness for continental challenges ahead.
Meanwhile, hosts Malawi’s Scorchers struggled to make an impact, failing to reach the final after suffering defeats to both Zimbabwe in their opening match and Zambia in their second outing.
The Copper Queens’ triumph adds to their rising profile in women’s football and builds confidence as they set their sights on future continental glory.
