Finance and National Planning Minister, Dr. Situmbeko Musokotwane, has announced that outstanding payments to all farmers who supplied maize to the Food Reserve Agency (FRA) will be fully settled by January 10, 2026.
In a statement issued in Lusaka on Tuesday, Musokotwane reassured the nation that payments to farmers were progressing, but regretted the delays.
He explained that in the interim, the FRA would continue to receive funds from financing institutions, alongside proceeds from ongoing maize sales, enabling payments to be made on a rolling basis in tranches.
“Farmers will therefore continue to receive their payments during this period, ahead of the final settlement date, 10th January, 2026,” Musokotwane announced.

The Minister emphasised the government’s recognition of the importance of timely payments and the role the funds play in supporting households, sustaining livelihoods, and enabling farmers to prepare for the ongoing farming season.
Musokotwane assured that the government remains fully committed to ensuring every farmer is paid in full within the stated timeframe.
“I take this opportunity to join His Excellency the President Mr. Hakainde Hichilema in thanking our treasured farmers for their patience and continued contribution to national food security and economic stability,” he said.
