A Facebook post asking, “What are you wearing on Tuesday?” sparked hundreds of witty responses, with many Zambians blending politics, football rivalries and fashion into a light-hearted online debate.
Some commenters insisted that the occasion calls for an all-red outfit, the colour associated with the ruling UPND.
One user joked: “Anything red, even a UCZ uniform.” Another wrote: “We paint Lusaka red,” while another declared: “All red outfit. My grandmother is sewing me cotton wool trousers.”
Others took a more unconventional approach.

One commenter humorously suggested: “Step one: Wake up straight from bed. Step two: Wear pyjamas and slippers. Step three: Go to Heroes Stadium.”
Another simply recommended “a shabadu and Bermuda shorts,” while another jokingly proposed wearing “salt clothes.”

A Manchester United fan insisted supporters should wear the club’s jersey because “it’s for winners,” while another cheekily suggested that anyone without red clothing should wear a Chelsea jersey because “we are champions.”

Others shifted attention from fashion to the entertainment expected at the ceremony, with one netizen saying they would wear red but hoped organisers would play popular youth songs through the stadium’s sound system.
Despite the jokes, the online conversation reflects the excitement building across the country as thousands of supporters prepare to converge on Heroes Stadium for President-elect Hichilema’s inauguration.
