Zambian Hip-hop group, Zone Fam, has reunited to release a song together for the first time in well over a decade, ending a 12-year agonizing wait among fans of the quartet.

The collective are set to release a new single under Headphone Music produced by group member, Jay Rox, entitled ‘One Fight’ which is accompanied by a music video directed by Lanzee Cooper.

This is a follow up to the single ‘Two Things’ which was the last song the group released in 2014.

All four members of the group namely Jay Rox whose real name is Jackson Ng’ambi, Sam Sakala (formerly known as Dope G), Reginald Lube alias Yung Verbal and Tim Chisenga who is artistically known as Tim shared teasers on their social media platforms hinting at the group’s return, and sparking a frenzy among fans on social media.

The past 12 years have seen group members embark on solo careers in addition to other endeavours, most notably in television with Sam Sakala and Jay Rox establishing themselves as actor and producer respectively while Yung Verbal has evolved into a media personality with a successful run as podcast presenter.

Zone Fam who confirmed the reunion said the release will present a perfect opportunity to reintroduce the group to a new generation of fans while cementing the old fanbase.

“One Fight officially begins a new chapter for Zone Fam, reconnecting the group with long time supporters while introducing their music and legacy to a new generation of listeners,” a joint statement by the group read.

The Chikali hitmakers sounded a defiant message that they were officially back, affirming commitment to the cause.

“Twelve years later, Zone Fam are back. One group. One legacy. One Fight,” the group stated.

Formed in Lusaka in 2009, Zone Fam rose to prominence with songs such as ‘Shaka Zulu On Em’ ‘Translate’, ‘Chikali’ and ‘Contolola’ becoming one of the most recognisable Zambian Hip-hop acts of their generation.

Their debut album, The Business: Foreign Exchange, helped establish their presence at home and across the region, while a 2012 international deal with Kenya’s Taurus Musik further expanded their reach.

Among their achievements, Zone Fam won Best Group at the Channel O Music Video Awards for “Contolola” and were also recognised as Best African Group at the Global African Music Awards.
