Carlos Queiroz has been reappointed as Ghana coach, just two months after stepping down following the country’s FIFA World Cup campaign.
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) announced yesterday that the 73-year-old Portuguese coach would begin a new coaching mandate during the upcoming international window, although no contract duration was disclosed.
The GFA said Queiroz’s international experience, technical expertise and knowledge of the Black Stars made him the right candidate to lead the team into its next chapter, Aljazeera reports.
Queiroz guided Ghana to the round of 32 at the World Cup after taking charge only a few months before the tournament.

The Black Stars had been left without a coach 72 days before the World Cup after the GFA parted ways with Otto Addo following friendly defeats to Austria and Germany in March.
Queiroz now faces an immediate test, with Ghana scheduled to play home and away matches against Ivory Coast in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers during the next international window from September 21 to October 6.
The Portuguese coach has extensive international experience, having previously managed Portugal, Iran, Colombia, Egypt, South Africa and Japan.
He led Portugal to the last 16 at the 2010 World Cup and subsequently coached Iran at the 2014, 2018 and 2022 editions of the tournament, recording three wins from 13 matches.
Born in Mozambique, Queiroz began his coaching career in Portugal and previously served as national team coach in the early 1990s.
His return gives Ghana an experienced hand as the Black Stars begin preparations for their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign.
