Bournemouth climbed out of the Premier League relegation zone after goals from Marcus Tavernier and Evanilson secured a victory over Sunderland, whose struggles continued.
Both teams began the day in the bottom three following poor domestic starts, despite winning their opening two Europa League matches.
According to the BBC, Bournemouth manager Marco Rose secured his first three points as a Premier League manager, while Sunderland remained without an away league win this season and had not won in the competition since beating Fulham on August 30.
Sunderland endured a disastrous opening 17 minutes, with defender Kevin Danso contributing to Bournemouth’s opener before being sent off for denying a clear goalscoring opportunity.
Bournemouth took the lead in the sixth minute when Evanilson powered past Danso before crossing for Tavernier, who headed into an empty net for his fourth goal of the season.
Danso was dismissed 11 minutes later after Evanilson used his strength to get in front of the defender, who pulled down the Bournemouth forward as he advanced towards goal on the edge of the penalty area.
Referee Craig Pawson showed Danso a red card for the foul.

Despite being reduced to 10 men, Sunderland goalkeeper Robin Roefs kept his side in the contest with several saves, including two efforts from Brazilian winger Rayan.
Adam Smith missed a rebound opportunity following one of Roefs’ saves as Bournemouth continued to press.
Sunderland’s hopes of recovering were dealt another blow just three minutes into the second half when a defensive mistake gifted Bournemouth their second goal.
Omar Alderete’s underhit back pass to Roefs allowed Evanilson to intercept the ball, round the goalkeeper and slide it into the net.
The victory lifted Bournemouth out of the relegation zone, while Sunderland’s difficult start to the league campaign continued.
