Manchester City ended a frustrating run without a Premier League victory with a 2–0 home win against Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday.

City opened the scoring in the sixth minute when Omar Marmoush netted his first league goal of the season, finishing from close range after a well-worked move.

The hosts doubled their advantage just before halftime when Antoine Semenyo, making his first home Premier League start, fired a low shot past the Wolves goalkeeper to make it 2–0.

The victory ended City’s four-game winless stretch in league play and lifted them to 46 points from 23 games, cutting the gap to Premier League leaders Arsenal to four points ahead of Sunday’s fixtures.

In a match reported by Skysports, Wolves, who came into the match unbeaten in their previous five games in all competitions, remained at the bottom of the table on eight points, 14 points adrift of safety.

City head coach Pep Guardiola made changes for the contest, including starting Marmoush and Semenyo, with Erling Haaland dropping to the bench, a tactical decision that paid off as both goal scorers impressed.

Newly signed defender Marc Guéhi also made his Etihad debut and was noted for a solid performance at the heart of the defence.

Despite dominating possession and limiting Wolves to few opportunities, City were unable to add a third goal in the second half.

Wolves worked hard for openings but never seriously troubled the scoreline, finishing the match without registering a shot on target in most live statistical feeds.
