Zambia’s Under-17 women’s national football team, the Copper Princesses, etched their name in the history books after storming to a dominant 3-0 victory over Malawi to lift a record third COSAFA U-17 Girls’ Championship crown at Hage Geingob Stadium.

With this historic third title secured, the Copper Princesses have not only cemented their dominance in Southern Africa but also issued a bold statement to the continental stage as they gear up for future international battles.

In a display of power, precision, and unyielding spirit, the Copper Princesses became the first team ever to win back-to-back titles in the regional tournament, adding to their triumphs in 2021 and 2024.

Captain Fridah Mukoma ignited the charge in the 24th minute with a clinical opener, before forward Natasha Kasema struck just three minutes later, capping a dazzling team move.

As the first half drew to a close, Gift Chisha delivered a knockout blow in stoppage time (45+4), leaving Malawi reeling and Zambia firmly in command.

The second half saw Zambia showcase maturity beyond their years, expertly managing the game and protecting their clean sheet.

Their rock-solid defense ensured they conceded just one goal throughout the entire tournament, while their free-scoring attack amassed a staggering 21 goals.
