Court sets April 18 for trial involving Ministry of Finance assistant director, Kasase, accused of murdering husband

Ministry of Finance and National Planning Assistant Director, Mwila Kasase, accused of murdering her husband, was cynosure of all eyes when she appeared in court Monday.

Kasase was seen clutching a handbag while covering her face with a wrapper when she and other inmates were being taken from the High Court holding cell to Supreme Court 1.

As she took the seemingly long walk to the Court room, those who saw her were left with an unanswered question.

Kasase, 48, and her son, Madiba Alex Kanyama Zulu, are jointly charged for the alleged brutal termination of the life of Alex Kanyama Zulu.

It is alleged that on July 29, 2023, Kasase ganged up with her son, Madiba in beating the the husband using a plank and other Kitchen utensils.

The two, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge of murder before High Court Judge, Ireen Mbewe.

Justice Mbewe adjourned the matter to April 18, 2024 for start of trial.
