Zambia Police Service in Lusaka have confirmed arrest of Lumezi Member of Parliament, Munir Zulu, as African Parliamentary Network Against Corruption (APNAC) gather at Longacres Community Police Station to give solidarity to their counterpart.

This was after several requests for him to present himself to Police failed, Deputy Police Public Relations Officer Danny Mwale said in Lusaka on Tuesday.

He is currently detained in Police custody.

“A comprehensive statement will be issued tomorrow, Tuesday, March 28, 2023,” Mwale said.

Meanwhile, APNAC Secretary General and other leaders have gathered Longacres Community Police Post to give solidarity to their counterpart, Munir Zulu.

Zambia Monitor had reported how in a letter dated March 27, 2023, Zulu said he had no confidence in the Commission to investigate alleged corruption by some ministers.

He said this was premised on the fact that when the allegations were made against the two ministers, instead of the Commission engaging him over the allegations, it contemptuously issued a statement wherein the Ministers of Finance, Dr Situmbeko Musokotwane denied that there was any corruption or investigations against him.
