Golden Party Zambia (GPZ) president Jackson Silavwe has insisted that President Hakainde Hichilema’s government is chasing electricity revenue at the people’s expense.

Silavwe said on Saturday that it was important for the government to make clear by how many hours electricity rationing will be reduced at household levels,

“We repeat our position that this 12 hours load shedding was induced by the new dawn business Government to make money at the expense of suffering Zambian’s,” he said.

Silavwe said now that power exports to neighbouring countries have been cut, it was important for Government to make it clear by how many hours load shedding would be reduced.

“The announcement by Government through the Minister of Energy Peter Kapala that it will cut power exports to neighbouring countries is very much welcome,” he said.

Silavwe indicated that the Government must communicate actual tangibles not mere storytelling to pacify outraged citizens who are feeling the blunt of 12 hours load shedding.
