Manchester City extended their dominance over Burnley with a 5-1 victory at the Etihad, powered by two own goals from Maxime Estève and a late Erling Haaland brace.
The result marked City’s 14th consecutive win against the Clarets.
While much of the pre-match focus was on Kyle Walker’s return, it was City’s right-back Matheus Nunes who delivered a decisive moment, smashing in a 61st-minute volley to restore the lead after Jaidon Anthony had cancelled out Estève’s early own goal.

According to ESPN, four minutes later, Estève again turned into his own net from an Oscar Bobb effort, easing City’s nerves before Haaland struck twice in the closing minutes to put the result beyond doubt.
City’s opener came from Jérémy Doku’s lively play against former captain Walker, with a fortunate deflection off Estève giving the hosts the lead.
Doku continued to trouble Burnley’s defence, though Anthony levelled in the 38th minute after Quilindschy Hartman’s cross and a Rúben Dias deflection.
Burnley threatened briefly after the break, but Nunes’ volley swung momentum back to Guardiola’s side. Estève’s second own goal soon followed, leaving Burnley’s resistance broken.
Haaland, who had earlier missed a clear chance, pounced on Doku’s cross in the 90th minute before capitalising on a defensive mix-up to complete the rout in stoppage time.
