Manchester City’s goal-scoring machine, Erling Haaland, struck twice in a 3-0 Premier League demolition of Manchester United at the Etihad Stadium, handing Pep Guardiola’s side bragging rights in the latest Manchester derby.

In a match reported by Al Jazeera, Phil Foden opened the scoring in the 18th minute on his first start of the season, rising to head in Jeremy Doku’s cross.

The winger dazzled United’s defence with a burst of skill, recovering after his initial cross was blocked to deliver a second ball that Foden guided home.

Haaland, fresh from scoring seven goals this week for club and country, doubled City’s lead in the 53rd minute.

Doku powered past Leny Yoro before sliding a pass to the Norwegian striker, who chipped calmly over goalkeeper Altay Bayindir.

The 25-year-old completed his brace in the 68th minute, racing past Harry Maguire to latch onto Bernardo Silva’s through ball and slot home for his second of the afternoon.

The result lifted City to eighth place on six points, six behind early leaders Liverpool, while United languish in 14th with just four points.
