President Hakainde Hichilema has defended his government’s decision to construct the Lusaka-Ndola dual carriage way under the Public Private Partnership (PPP) describing it as a best deal.

President Hichilema said while the last regime procured the road contract at US$1.2billion, his government will delivered it at half price.

He said in Mufulira on Copperbelt Province on Sunday that the government was determined to deliver quality infrastructure with fair price.

“The  last regime borrowed a lot thereby affecting the economy, we have delivered the Ndola-Lusaka dual carriage project at half price under PPP, this is how government is working,” President Hichilema said.

He assured Copperbelt residents that the long awaited Ndola-Mufulira-Mokambo road would soon be worked on .

President Hichilema said plans to upgrade the road infrastructure leading to the border posts have advanced and this was aimed at decongesting the Kasumbalesa border facility.

He said border posts  such as Sakania, Mokambo and Kipushi were critical in enhancing regional trade thereby boosting the country’s export base.
