Luapula Police Commanding Officer, Lucky Munkhondya, said the incident occurred on Aug. 30 between 0800 and 1700 hours.

He added that the two juveniles had gone fishing on the river using a canoe when it capsized.

“A joint operation was carried out by the Police and officers from Chembe Town Council Fire Brigade Department. At around 12:18 hours, divers from the Fire Brigade managed to retrieve the body from the river,” Munkhondya said in a statement on Thursday.
