Police hunt for four men who allegedly gang-raped Mansa woman

Police in Mansa are currently pursuing four men who allegedly gang-raped a woman as she left a drinking place on her way home.

Out of the four who reportedly participated in the act, she was only able to identify one named James and other names not known.

This occurred on June 6,2025 at 23:00 hours in Mansa.

Luapula Province Police Commanding Officer, Mwala Yuyi, said in a statement on Thursday that on the material day the victim left Bashi Mwansa’s bar and on her way home, after a drinking spree, she saw a group of boys among them James, other names not known, who is usually found at Down-UB market.

“The same boys approached her and one of them hit her on her forehead with a fist while others kicked her and she fell on the ground and together they forced her on the ground by holding her hands and legs and each one of the four boys took turns to forcefully having carnal knowledge of her,” Yuyi narrated.

Afterwards, the boys got away with her green suit and black silipers leaving her naked.

She later managed to go to a nearest house where she found Bana Memory (other names not known ) who helped her with a Chitenge material and she covered herself and went home.

However, he said the victim never disclosed her predicament to anyone but that the following day her mother, Alice Sangwe aged 50, of the same abode discovered drops of blood stains in the house and she called her daughter and asked her about the blood stains in the house.

She narrated that, she was attacked and raped the previous night by four boys. Immediately the mother brought her to the Police Station where a formal complainant was lodged.

Acting on the matter, Yuyi said Police issued a medical report form to the victim and was taken to Mansa general hospital for medical examination and that the Doctors findings were consistent.

Police have since instituted investigations into the matter and launched a manhunt to bring the culprits to book.
