North-Western Police Chief, Dennis Moola, says the police in Solwezi are pursuing a man who is on the run for defiling a three-year-old girl.

Danny Tembo, 32, was reported to have dragged the juvenile into an outside toilet, undressed her and put her on his laps with a view to having canal knowledge of her.

Moola said in a statement on Thursday that the incident happened on Wednesday around 13:30 hours in Mushitala area.

The victim’s mother, a Burundian national, reported that her daughter was indecently assaulted by Tembo.

Brief facts of the matter were that the girl and the mother were in a shop selling when the suspect took advantage of the victim who was outside without informing the mother.

Later on, the mother to the victim started searching for her after not seeing her for some time.

Moola said she then heard her crying outside from the toilet and that when she went there to check, she found her undressed and seated on the suspect’s laps who was also naked.

The suspect immediately abandoned the victim and ran away from the toilet, and a manhunt had been launched for him.
