Socialist Party leader, Fred M’membe, has alleged that President Hakainde Hichilema has embarked on desperate attempts to mask the failures of his administration.

M’membe claimed that Hichilema was spreading illogical rhetoric about the state of the economy.

He made the allegations in a statement issued in Lusaka on Monday.

He said the relentless lies were stoking the streets of Lusaka and Zambia in general with further frustration and anger.

“Bena balelya baleina but they’re giving people illogical projections for a better and more affordable living standards. It’s clear they don’t have a plan for the country,” M’membe said.

He alleged that the lies had backfired, and that reality had dawned on Hichilema with his administration now in a desperate mode.

M’membe said the people were already aware that they had been lied to by the government.

“Let Hichilema take time to reflect and learn about what is going on in the communities and the country at large, and what needs to be done to improve the situation,” he said.

M’membe said the desperation and arrogance would only make the government more vulnerable and less effective in the long run.

“Hichilema must know that offloading more lies and cheap propaganda will not solve the problems he has created and the people are awake. It’s too late. It’s over, let them just accept! ,” he said.
