Tottenham Hotspur were rescued from defeat deep into stoppage time as captain Cristian Romero scored a dramatic 90th-minute equaliser, earning a 2–2 Premier League draw at Burnley’s Turf Moor on Saturday.

Spurs had looked set for defeat after Lyle Foster’s second-half strike put Burnley ahead, but Romero’s late header ensured the visitors avoided a loss and secured a valuable point in a tense encounter.

According to ABC Sports, Tottenham took the lead in the 38th minute through Micky van de Ven, who scored with a well-timed finish from close range to put Spurs in front.

Burnley responded strongly, and just before halftime Axel Tuanzebe nodded home to bring the hosts level at 1–1 going into the break.

The second half continued with high stakes as both sides battled for supremacy.

Burnley spurned early chances before Foster, a substitute, put the home team ahead in the 76th minute, capitalising on sustained pressure and drawing cheers from the Turf Moor faithful.

With Spurs needing a response, the visitors pushed forward relentlessly and they came close to equalising late, with Xavi Simons striking the crossbar in the dying minutes before Romero rose to meet a delivery and head Tottenham level in dramatic fashion.

The point leaves Tottenham on 28 points in the league standings and Burnley on 15, as both teams look ahead to their upcoming fixtures with confidence tempered by the roller-coaster nature of this entertaining clash.
