Sakala missing, as Grant names provisional squad for four nations tournament (See list)

Chipolopolo coach, Avram Grant, has named a 24 member squad for the four nations joint tournament to be held in Malawi.

Grant had named a strong squad with the majority of players that participated at the Africa Cup of Nations.

Kenya, Malawi, Zambia and Zimbabwe last month agreed to hold a joint football tournament during the upcoming FIFA international window between 18-26 March, 2024 to be held in Lilongwe, Malawi.

Leicester City striker Patson Daka was among the players selected in the squad for the tournament.

Impressive veteran defender, Stopilla Sunzu, who had a good tournament at the Africa Cup of Nations Ivory Coast had also been shortlisted.

However, Saudi Arabia based forward Fashion Sakala, Kings Kangwa who plies his trade in Belgium are among notable absentees.

Others who did not make the final shortlist were Kelvin Kampamba, Kelvin Kapumbu and Edward Chilufya.

Mozambique based youngster, Obino Chisala, had also been handed a call up by the Israeli gaffer.

Grant would use the four team tournament to prepare for the FIFA World Cup qualifiers slated for June.

The Israeli gaffer had also selected FAZ MTN Super League players namely Joshua Mutale, Lawrence Mulenga,Dominic Chanda, Golden Mashata, Abraham Siankombo and Andrew Phiri.

The Tanzania based duo of midfielder Clatous Chota Chama and striker Kennedy Musonda would also feature in the squad.
