Six feared dead in Chingola-Solwezi car crash

Six passengers are reportedly dead along Solwezi–Chingola highway after the Toyota Allion they were in lost control due to excessive speeding.

North-Western Police Chief, Dennis Moola, said in a statement on Tuesday that the incident happened on Sunday around 18:50 hours near Kabitata stream.

“Three of the victims were from the same family as well as two others,”  Moola said, adding that due to the impact the driver along with five other passengers died after sustaining several injuries.

Edward Maloza, 37, whilst driving a Toyota Allion registration number BAH 6926 from East to West lost control  due to excessive speeding and hit a truck registration number BAV 875 which was being driven by John Kamboyi 62 of Lusaka who was driving in the same direction.

Moola  said the driver together with the four-year-old boy identified as Prince Wakupela and Lona Majiji, 36, died on the spot, while three others identified as Morgan Majiji, 19, Rona Majiji, 34, and Claudas Majiji, 25, died in the early hours of Tuesday.

All six are in the Solwezi general hospital mortuary.
