President Donald Trump of the United States on Friday announced that he had designated Nigeria as a “country of particular concern” over the alleged widespread killings of Christians in the country.
According to Ripples Nigeria, Trump posted on Truth Social that “Christianity was facing an existential threat in Nigeria.”
He noted that thousands of Christians were being killed and that radical Islamists were responsible for the mass slaughter.

“I am hereby making Nigeria a ‘COUNTRY OF PARTICULAR CONCERN’ — But that is the least of it,” he wrote.
The President emphasized that action should be taken when people are persecuted for their faith, adding that he had directed Rep. Riley Moore (R-W. Va.), Rep. Tom Cole (R-Okla.), and members of the House Appropriations Committee to investigate the situation and report their findings to him.
“The United States cannot stand by while such atrocities are happening in Nigeria, and numerous other countries,” Trump said.
“We stand ready, willing, and able to save our Great Christian population around the World,” he said.
The “Countries of Particular Concern” list comprises nations that the U.S. identifies as engaging in religious freedom violations. The list includes China, Myanmar, North Korea, Russia, and Pakistan, among others, according to the State Department website.
