UPPZ calls for fair treatment of headmen in distribution of traditional benefits

The United Prosperous and Peaceful Zambia (UPPZ) has called for fair distribution of incentives among traditional leaders in the country, raising concern over alleged neglect of Headmen.

Party leader Charles Chanda is worried that headmen, who play crucial roles in their communities, were sometimes being overlooked compared to chiefs who the government was allegedly building palaces for, with lucrative salaries.

In a statement issued in Lusaka by UPPZ media team on Wednesday, Chanda highlighted that while chiefs were receiving benefits, headmen who were essential in local governance and community support were often neglected by the government.

“Headmen were suffering in silence. They do the hard work but are not recognized. Our current government tends to focus more on MPs and Councilors,” he noted.

He assured of the the party’s commitment to investing in the communities of traditional leaders.

“Our recent initiatives show that we care and are willing to help. The UPPZ is urging the government to look into these issues seriously and create a fair system where all traditional leaders can benefit equally,” Chanda said

“The UPPZ is determined to push for changes that honor the hard work of all traditional leaders across Zambia,” Chanda added.
