The Zambia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ZACCI) and Prospero Limited have signed a partnership agreement aimed at enhancing the growth and competitiveness of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Zambia.

The agreement, signed on Thursday at Prospero’s corporate offices in Lusaka by ZACCI President, Anthony Kabaghe and Chief Executive Officer Mundia Mutomboi, seeks to strengthen MSME capacity, promote innovation and technology adoption, expand access to markets and affordable finance, and advocate for business-friendly policies.

Kabaghe said the agreement reflected a shared commitment to building a resilient private sector, stressing that MSMEs remain the backbone of the Zambian economy.

“This partnership aims to directly address challenges faced by MSMEs and deliver sustainable solutions for entrepreneurs and business communities,” he said.

He noted that while MSMEs drive innovation, create jobs, and contribute significantly to GDP, they continue to face barriers such as limited access to finance and market opportunities.

Mutomboi highlighted the importance of supporting SMEs in their growth and formalization, saying the collaboration with ZACCI would help foster a stronger and more inclusive economy.

At the same event, ZACCI Acting CEO, Emmanuel Mumba, pointed to the chamber’s ongoing formalization project with the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC), describing Prospero’s role as critical to advancing this transformative agenda.

He also commended board members and senior officials from both institutions for reinforcing the spirit of collaboration symbolized by the memorandum of understanding.
