The Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA), through its Investigation Department, has seized more than K3.7 million and US$3,091 suspected to be undeclared income and taxes from four non-compliant mining premises in Kasempa.

The enforcement operation targeted the four mining companies as part of ZRA’s ongoing efforts to combat tax evasion, ensure compliance with tax laws, and safeguard government revenue.

In a statement issued on Monday, ZRA Corporate Communications Manager, Oliver Nzala, identified the companies involved as Katenge Resources Limited, Ken Reliable, Sunion Investment, and Sino Octascene.

“During the operation, one of the directors of Sino Octascene, Huang Qingyi, was arrested on site after attempting to bribe a ZRA officer with K10,000 by placing the money in the officer’s pocket in an effort to obstruct the officer from performing their duties,” Nzala stated.

The suspect has been handed over to the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) for further investigation and possible prosecution.

Nzala emphasized ZRA’s zero-tolerance stance on corruption and reaffirmed the authority’s commitment to enforcing tax compliance across all sectors of the economy, including mining.

He further noted that ZRA would continue conducting enforcement operations to protect national resources from illicit mining activities.
