Minister of Justice, Princess Kasune, has urged women to challenge the notion that they compete destructively against each other, especially in the business sector.
Kasune encouraged women to unite their voices, emphasizing their significant role in shaping Africa’s economy and social fabric.
Speaking at the Absa Inspire Me Conference 2025 in Lusaka on Thursday, she highlighted the importance of mutual support among women.
“Your engagement strengthens our collective voice. As we face challenges, amplifying our voices together will help us work toward common goals.
“Justice extends beyond the courts—it must also be reflected in how we build inclusive economies and remove systemic barriers,” Kasune said
Regarding the conference, she said it demonstrated that women were advancing by leveraging collaboration and networking.
Kasune noted that the event provided an opportunity to learn, take action, and maintain connections beyond the conference.

At the same event, Absa Board Chairperson, Austin Mwape, said the conference aimed to bridge the gap between potential and opportunity and promote meaningful engagement across markets.
Mwape noted that women-owned enterprises represent nearly 35 percent of formal businesses in Zambia, reflecting their growing contribution to national development.
He acknowledged that women entrepreneurs faced structural challenges, including limited access to affordable capital, fragmented market linkages, and inadequate infrastructure.
“Addressing these challenges requires deliberate and sustained intervention. When women-led enterprises succeed, benefits extend across society—creating jobs, improving household economic security, and increasing community opportunities,” Mwape said.
He added that investing in women was an effective strategy for reducing poverty and promoting inclusive growth.
“Research shows that women entrepreneurs reinvest a larger portion of their earnings into their families and communities, supporting education, health, and social welfare,” Mwape said.
Absa Bank Zambia Chief Executive Officer, Mizinga Melu, encouraged women to trade with each other across countries to strengthen their businesses collectively.
Melu also advised women to leverage social media platforms to market their products.
