Zambia reaffirms solidarity with Sudan amid ongoing conflict

President Hakainde Hichilema has expressed Zambia’s deep concern over the ongoing conflict in Sudan, reaffirming the country’s unwavering solidarity with the Sudanese people, many of whom have been displaced, injured, or lost their lives.

Speaking at State House on Friday when the Vice President of Sudan’s Transitional Sovereignty Council, Malik Agar Eyre, paid a courtesy call, President Hichilema said Zambia fully supports all efforts aimed at restoring peace, security, and constitutional order in the war-torn nation.

Agar Eyre delivered a special message from Sudanese President, His Excellency Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah al‑Burhan.

“Zambia remains committed to working in close collaboration with regional and international partners, including ECOWAS, the East African Community (EAC), SADC, the African Union (AU), and the United Nations (UN), to promote a peaceful resolution to the crisis,” President Hichilema in a post on his official Facebook page.

He emphasized Zambia’s belief that, “instability anywhere is instability everywhere,” stressing the urgency for a swift, peaceful, and inclusive resolution to the conflict.
