Minister of Community Development and Social Services, Doreen Mwamba, has announced plans to introduce a motion in Parliament advocating for the castration of men found guilty of defiling young girls.

Speaking in Mporokoso District, Northern Province, on Friday, Minister Mwamba expressed deep concern over the rampant abuse of minors, noting that some older men, who are expected to protect young girls, instead exploit them.

In a statement issued in Lusaka, she warned women against remaining silent when their daughters are defiled to protect marriages, saying the law will hold them accountable as well.

“Stop sleeping with young girls, otherwise you will face severe consequences. Men behaving like dogs who disrespect the young and ignore the consequences will no longer escape punishment,” Mwamba stated, emphasizing the need for a strict legal framework to deter offenders.

The Minister also urged mothers and guardians not to withdraw cases involving defilement, warning that anyone complicit in covering up abuse will face legal consequences.

Mwamba said the proposed legislative push will be initiated when the next parliamentary session opens, signaling the government’s commitment to protect children and uphold their rights.
