Manchester City cruised to a dominant 4-0 win over Wolves on the opening weekend of the Premier League season, sending a clear message that any lingering doubts from last season are firmly behind them.

Pep Guardiola’s side remained disciplined and focused at Molineux, holding a high defensive line that paid off early on.

In a match reported by The Independent, the Wolves thought they had taken the lead through Marshall Munetsi, but the offside flag cut celebrations short.

Instead, it was Erling Haaland who opened the scoring, arriving at the back post to tap in a squared ball.

The Norwegian striker later added a second in the second half, continuing his prolific form. In between Haaland’s brace, new signing Tijjani Reijnders marked his Premier League debut with a composed finish, showing signs that he could be a worthy successor to the injured Kevin De Bruyne.

Rayan Cherki also made an instant impact from the bench, becoming the second City debutant of the day to find the net.

His late goal sealed the emphatic victory and capped off a miserable afternoon for a Wolves side that looked increasingly disjointed after conceding the opener.
