Government has announced that Zambia will this week, on Wednesday, host celebrations recognising Africa’s top 10 innovators.
Minister of Technology and Science, Felix Mutati, revealed this during PKF Zambia’s 10th anniversary celebrations, emphasising the need to celebrate Africa’s finest innovators while encouraging Zambian firms to embrace artificial intelligence (AI) and other emerging technologies.
Mutati said technology adoption was critical for economic transformation, but stressed that it must go hand in hand with integrity and strong cyber-security systems.
“Artificial intelligence enables people and machines to work side by side, delivering efficiency and quality beyond question. But as we embrace AI, we must also strengthen cyber-security systems to preserve client confidence and protect critical infrastructure,” he said.
He commended PKF Zambia for its resilience and adaptation over the past decade, noting the firm’s integration of technology-driven growth with social responsibility.
PKF International Chief Executive Officer, Theo Vermaak, described the 10-year milestone as “an incredible journey of resilience,” while Managing Partner Antony Ranjan highlighted his firm’s commitment to community work, including partnerships with orphanages, schools, and women’s organisations.
Mutati further noted that government had already rolled out the national AI strategy and enacted cyber-security legislation to support firms such as PKF and others seeking to digitise their operations while protecting client trust.
