One person has died and another is receiving medical care following a head-on collision accident in Kalulushi District over the weekend.
According to Kitwe City Council Public Relations Manager Mwaka Nakweti, the accident involved a yellow Shacman Tipper Truck (Reg. No. ADF 517) owned by Zhixing Company Limited and a dark blue Mercedes Benz C200 Kompressor (Reg. No. BAV 4376), driven by 40-year-old Mumba Bwalya of Ndola District, who died on the spot.
Firefighters used hydraulic rescue tools to extricate another victim from the wreckage. The deceased was handed over to Garnatone Traffic Police officers.
Another casualty, identified as 33-year-old Rita Nyambe from Bulangililo Township, Kitwe, had been rushed to Kalulushi Hospital for treatment before the fire brigade’s arrival.
