All People’s Congress (APC) Party leader Nason Msoni has condemned political endorsements that ignore the daily struggles of Zambians, describing them as selfish, misplaced, and of no value to the electorate.
In an interview with Zambia Monitor, Msoni said it was a self-serving ruse to insist on backing leadership that had, in his view, failed to deliver tangible results to citizens.
“Politics should be about serving the interests of the masses, not championing an individual’s political ambition,” he said.
He urged opposition leaders who have run out of ideas or interest in advancing the welfare of the people to consider retiring from politics, warning that endorsements done merely to curry favour with those in power undermined the role of the opposition.

“You can’t premise your political existence and relevance on praising and singing for a political party in government just to earn a living,” Msoni said, adding that such conduct weakened the collective effort to confront Zambia’s socio-economic challenges.
He further argued that endorsements from leaders who were already “in bad standing with the people” did not benefit the individuals being endorsed, as voters ultimately judge performance, not praise.
“In a nutshell, even the so-called political endorsements themselves do not add any value to the person being endorsed,” Msoni stated.
