The ruling United Party for National Development (UPND) and the Communist Party of China (CPC) have pledged to fully implement agreements signed between President Hakainde Hichilema and President Xi Jinping, as both parties work to deepen party-to-party and state-to-state cooperation.
A CPC delegation led by Wang Linhu, Member of the Standing Committee and Head of Legal Affairs of the CPC Hubei Provincial Committee, held high-level talks with the UPND at the Mulungushi International Conference Centre in Lusaka on Wednesday.
The delegation was accompanied by Chinese Ambassador to Zambia, Han Jing, and senior CPC officials.
UPND Secretary-General, Batuke Imenda, said the party values the CPC as a partner in Zambia’s transformation journey.
He highlighted that historic projects such as the TAZARA Railway and Mulungushi Textiles remain enduring symbols of Zambia–China solidarity and would be further revitalised under renewed cooperation.
“Some of the outcomes from President Hichilema’s recent visit to China include commitments to launch direct flights between Zambia and China to strengthen trade and tourism,” Imenda said.
He added that vocational training for youth and women in ICT, agriculture, and innovation would be expanded, alongside renewable energy projects, smart city initiatives, and rehabilitation of TAZARA and other critical infrastructure.

In his remarks, Wang said his mission was specifically to advance the implementation of the agreements signed by Presidents Hichilema and Xi, which he described as a roadmap for mutual development.
“The CPC will continue to work closely with the UPND in promoting shared prosperity and advancing the vision set by the two Heads of State,” Wang said, stressing the importance of aligning Zambia’s and China’s development strategies while strengthening cultural, educational, and industrial cooperation.
Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to dialogue, governance exchanges, and people-to-people cooperation, with Zambia reiterating its support for the One-China Policy as a cornerstone of bilateral relations.
They noted that the renewed focus on implementation marks a decisive step in ensuring that agreements signed at the highest level deliver direct social and economic benefits to the people of Zambia and China.
